We all know about Google Talk, Yahoo Messenger and other similar messengers. At first we would have been fascinated by those. But later we would get annoyed that we need to download so many different clients to keep in touch with different people. At one point of time, we would have wished for a single platform which unites this all. Pidgin puts this wish into action.Pidgin is an Universal Chat Client which has a common interface for many chat networks like Google Talk, Yahoo, AIM, MySpaceIM and others. More interesting fact about it is that it is Open Sourse. Once you begin to use it, you would never want to stay away from it!! So after instaling Linux, are you planning to download different chat clients? But unfortunately you have to drop it, thanks to pidgin!! Now you can IM all your friends in one place!!
To access Pidgin:
Applications -> Internet -> Pidgin
Here you need to add your account to the Pidgins list of accounts so that it can log you on automatically the next time you open pidgin!!
To do this..
Goto Accounts -> Manage
Here select the Type of Chat in the Protocol text box and then fill in your required details and click Add.
Your account gets added and you are all set for Instant Messaging!!
